Pacifica Beach and Devil's Slide

I had been curious about Devil's Slide Trail, the new outdoor recreation space opened after the tunnel was built for Highway 1. The weekend weather forecast begged for us to be outdoors. We headed to Pacifica Beach where the waves are accessible for boogie boarding, and then up the road to Devil's Slide.

The elevation at Devil's Slide is breathtaking, which made it easy to see a few whale spouts in the cove. There are benches for taking in the scenery, and a wide path repurposed from the old highway. Interpretive signs offer geology lessons for anyone curious about rock formations and patterns on the cliffs. I would not recommend bikes for kids, because the grade is steep. But for a nice walk out on the edge of the world, it's a no brainer.
