A few weeks ago I checked out an old crafting book from the library that showed how to make a wire beaded doll. I ended up reengineering the doll into an upcycled craft by using wire and cork from a champagne bottle to construct the doll's frame. Since then, I've made several dolls as "good luck" ornaments for my daughter's friends who are turning twelve. Twelve seems kind of special, and I expect they (we) will need all the luck we can get.
I'm linking this post to the "Makers Link Party #53" hosted at Upcycled Treasures, to venture out a bit farther into the DIY blogosphere.
