So it took me over a decade of living in the Bay Area to finally figure it out. Wetsuits. Since the kids and I have gotten wetsuits, our entire outlook as changed. Cold northern California beaches are finally accessible, fun, and refreshingly filled with family time. Everybody plays, and the waves aren't just for Dad, anymore.
