A Cottage in Finnish Lakeland

After Helskinki, we spent a week in Finnish Lakeland just beyond Mikkeli. Cottages seem to be a way of life in Finland. Many families journey to their cottages to enjoy the long summer days and rest in these peaceful and secluded settings. Cottages have their own lake access along with a small pier, rowboat, and sauna. The water temperature varies depending on the summer weather pattern, and during our week it was quite cold. So you would take a dip, and then warm up in the sauna, and then repeat the process. Most time on the lake was on the rowboat, trying to fish or collecting lilly pad flowers. The accommodations were very comfortable and cottages can be found at http://www.lomarengas.fi.
