Tiptoe through the Tulips at Filoli Gardens

Just a few freeway exits from our home is an estate where people travel to from miles around. I hadn't been here in years, and then I realized, "hey, people travel here from miles around - I should go!".  So I packed up the girls, picked up some snacks, and drove 10 minutes away to Filoli Gardens. Filoli is one of those take-you-back-in-time mansions that inspire visions of grand ballroom dances, lawn parties, horses and carriages. The girls were so chuffed to be on a civilized stroll in these magic meadows (rather than on my traditional weekend 'hike') that they almost thanked me. Imagine that!

I know, huh? Sometimes we tend to forget about things to do in our own backyard. I have so many places on my list in or around Atlanta that I should have been but haven't yet. :)

Ah!!! Love the colorful flowers of Spring!

You know, we've never been there. Isn't that shameful?

This looks SO much more inviting than Winchester Mystery! I'll definitely take some visitors to see this next time. Thanks!

Hi Lorraine,
it seems that we walk the same ground - we have been to Purissima Creek Open Space two times this month and we were planning to go to Filoli next week:)

This is what spring is about, the garden and plantings. I've managed to incorporate a few potted tulips inside my apartment in a pathetic attempt to embrace spring.
