The scenes in front of me last Sunday morning reminded me how perfect this time of year is for hiking in California. I didn't need to travel to Yosemite or Yellowstone, I just needed to drive up Skyline Boulevard and pick a trail, any trail, and head down the mountain. Springtime hiking welcomes the traveler with wildflowers, greenery, and plenty of acoustics to keep you smiling. These photos were taken on the Purisima Creek Trail, part of the Bay Area Peninsula's Open Space initiative to preserve local lands.

I love it! Great photos!
Those pictures are beautiful! I'm jealous. Texas doesn't have quite the same terrain as California does. :)
Great minds think alike. We have been doing A LOT of hiking lately. I'm trying to get back in shape, but I also think it's a great time of year to get out there.
Nice shots too.
Love this post, Lorraine! Spring feels like it beckons us outdoors to hit the parks, gardens and trails. And your right, nature can be found right outside your back door!
Reminicent of trails in NZ. Green, lush and easily acessible.
Wow. So green and gorgeous. I wanna hike that trail!
