So the week after Christmas, when everyone was headed to the Cal Academy of Sciences, we detoured from the crowds and visited the other side of Golden Gate Park - the Conservatory of Flowers. I had never been, but it exceeded my expectations. Not only did we get a clear and sunny winter day, but we also found a model train exhibit complete with a wheel-of-fortune treasure hunt the kids could enjoy. Many items in the exhibit are reused and recycled, so it was fun to search for old cassette tapes, for example, that made up a miniature city building. Can YOU find the Cheerios box, or the Mah Jong game tiles? The Golden Gate Express Garden Railway runs through April 18th, 2010.

I have been to Golden Gate Park a million times and I didn't know this place existed! Very cool. My kids would LOVE the trains.

Next time we're in the SF area I'll have to check out the Conservatory of Flowers.
Cool! My daughter loves trains, so we'll keep this in mind someday when we are in San Francisco.
Great exhibit. The model trains always amaze me...the trains and cities are so tiny yet so intricate.

wow, I love models and this one is brilliant with the recycled objects. I love the padillion made with used motherboards and the Mah Jong pieces.
