Silver Linings

Well, that's it, I've had enough. I've decided not to let the mainstream news get me down. The way things are going, you would think that the economy, society, and the environment are all sprinting to the finish line in the race of "Bad-to-Worse"! I wonder what could be accomplished if our collective attitudes were inversly proportional to all of this bad news. What if, instead, we were all in a race to go from "Good-to-Fantastic"! Who would win, and how would you get there?

When it was raining last week, my daughter found some art supplies and created pictures out of glitter and glue. She made all of the fun stuff....rainbows, Christmas trees, princesses, etc. When the light hit these little works of art, they turned into a magnificent set of gems.

I'm going to start this race by paying attention to detail. We can look at glitter rainbows and pass them off with a "good job kid". Or, we can look further and turn them into moments to be enjoyed. So watch out Brian Williams with your NBC Nightly News Webcast - I've got an arsenal growing and it's only going to get better!

Go get 'em, Lorraine!

Why is it when optimists want to see the bright side of life, we are considered clueless, or worse, delusional? I agree that action changes the status quo, but without hope there is no passion for taking action - only despair at what is coming.

Thank you for sharing a small portion of your rainbows!

Great post! I, too, have tired of the gloom and doom presented on an hourly basis by the mainstream news. I long for the small town news program I used to watch with my mom. Stories about hero pets, the kindness of strangers and the like show me that there is hope and goodness out there.

Great photo, and yes we've all been feeling gloomy lately. Trying to stay positive. Thanks for the rainbow today.
