Shades of Green

I've been treating Green as a project, something to be put off until I have all of the bandwidth to do it 100% right and complete (this strategy has not been very Green). I used to think that just because I have a compost pile, I somehow get Green points in the grand scale of Green. That's not cutting it anymore either. The time has come, Marvin K. Mooney, to make better progress.

I have forgotten my recyclable grocery bags for the last time. They are now clipped on my keychain as an everpresent reminder to get with the program. I have notified my husband via executive order that any bulk Costco purchases must be biodegradable and approved in advance. I have switched to environmentally friendly household cleaning products. And I've made a matrix:

If I were to take a snapshot right now, I'd rate my household as Mint Green and my business as Barf Yellow. I know there are many more steps to take, but now, for some reason, I'm motivated. Must be all of the peer pressure from eco-friendly moms. Keep at it, you are making a difference!

P.S. I like this online article at Tonic.com that puts Green Building in perspective.

So now I'm wondering how barf yellow most of my daily life is. I'm going to do something about forgetting my grocery bags at home!
