I.O.U. Some Memories

My home state of California started issuing IOUs to pay its vendors because the budget crisis is still unsettled (i.e., in fiscal emergency). On the chopping block are our beloved state parks. I wonder if the state's legislators ever went camping? Or roasted marshmallows? Or played with flashlights beyond bedtime? Can you just imagine, The Terminator roasting a marshmallow? I wonder if it would make him smile a little more. If not, maybe this video clip will:

Some motivated folks are taking action over at www.savestateparks.org. I also like the series Bridget has started over at Family Adventure Guidebooks called State Park Sunday. If you like motivated folks, don't forget to check out more of them at Photo Friday!

What a lovely film. Some things you just can't put a price on. I hope you get to keep your parks.

What fun! That is a great little video of your camping adventure. It made me smile and crave some smores. So sad to hear about the state park situation.

I'm still trying to imagine Arnold making a S'more!

I actually told the legislators to check out my State Park Sunday posts since they may not get to a State Park very often.

Arnies kids would enjoy some of the adventures we have been having this week.

Wish he would find a way to keep them open.

Good video, you look like you all had fun. Shame about the park though.

Bridget - great idea to send these in to the legislature, I think I saw a link about sharing state park stories on the savestateparks website - I will do the same!

I sure hope that they will rethink that. It will be so sad if they close state parks.

Looks like everyone was having fun there

I am sure that Obama will not let the crisis reach as far as shutting the parks.
In the meantime, it's a great way for kids to learn the love of our parks.

Nothing beats smores! Maybe you should sent up a camp site outside the gov's house and make smores ;-)

Can you pay your bills with IOU's?

I want a s'more now. Luckily, I still have some supplies leftover from our last trip. It's never as much fun to make them in the toaster though.

Geez, our government spends money on committees no one is sure what they do or why they need millions of dollar, but something as priceless as our natural resources and it is lights out. That's just sad.
